We have carefully selected a range of delicious Italian and Cornish wines from small producers. We personally taste all our wines to ensure they go perfectly with our thin-crust pizzas. This selection provides you with fantastic quality and value for money, as well as some unique wines that can’t otherwise be found in Cornwall. We hope you enjoy them!

Rosé

Pinot Grigio Blush, Cielo (Rosé, Veneto Italy)            £8.50
Fruity on the nose with an elegant palate of crisp fruit flavours. This rosé wine is a wonderful pale pink colour, developed from the hot Italian sun shining on the white grapes and causing the skins to go copper in colour. The perfect Spring and Summer time match for our pizzas. ABV 12%.

White

Arpeggio Catarratto, Settesoli, (Sicily, 12.5 %)              £ 8.95
White, Crisp, Dry and Refreshing
Lightly aromatic and floral in character with delicate flavours of white blossom and peaches, balanced with refreshing acidity. Ripened in bright sunshine on the gentle hills of Menfi, Sicily.
Ideal as an accompaniment to fish, white meats, starters and salads.

Pinot Grigio, Cielo (Veneto Italy)                £8.95
A modern, light and supremely drinkable white wine, produced by the Cielo family in Veneto, Northern Italy. Fresh and delicious. ABV 11.5%.

Stoneburn Sauvignon Blanc (Marlborough, New Zealand)     £11.50
Crisp, Acidic and Fruity. This Sauvignon Blanc shows classic grassy characters underpinned with hints of peppers. Its zesty, tangy, with a crisp and refreshing finish. ABV 13%.

Verdicchio Classico, Villa Bianchi, Umani Ronchi (Marche, Italy, 12 %)   £ 10.95
White, Crisp, Dry and Refreshing
Brilliant straw yellow colour with greenish tints. The bouquet is fine and intense, fruity and floral. The palate is pleasant, vibrant and fresh notes, followed by a typically almond aftertaste. Enjoy with lean antipasti, pasta and risottos with seafood sauces; excellent with fish grilled, cooked au gratin or baked.

Polgoon Bacchus (Penzance, Cornwall)          £14.95
A single variety wine made from the bacchus grapes. Full of character with exuberant aromas of lime zest and spring grass on the nose. This wine pairs well with fresh Cornish fish dishes and Cornish cheese. Elderflower and gooseberry on the palate, with a fresh, lasting citrus finish. ABV 11%.
I enjoyed the bacchus, which is grown on a vineyard within a pitching-wedge stroke of the Atlantic. Floral and zippy, it has notes of gooseberry and elderflower.” Will Lyons, The Sunday Times Magazine

Polgoon Seyval Blanc / Ortega (Penzance, Cornwall)          £14.95
A single estate, perfectly blended white wine from Polgoon. The blend is lightly oaked to enhance the butterscotch complexity of white peach and grape flavours. A floral and honeysuckle nose, all lightly balanced with a gentle acidity. Deliciously rivals New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. ABV 11%.

Red

Pinot Noir, Cielo (Veneto, Italy)            £8.95
Our house red is from the Cielo family east of Lake Garda, Northern Italy. A light smooth red wine expressing subtle tannins with abundant raspberry and cherry fruit flavours. Top quality Italian Pinot Noir at a very good value price. ABV 12%.

Merlot Raboso, Cielo (Veneto, NE Italy)            £8.50
The Cielo family have blended the local Raboso grape with the more familiar Merlot, creating a rounded, fruit-driven red. Berry notes fill the nose of this wine, followed by a fruited and round palate echoing the aroma flavours of blueberry, cherry and blackberry. The finish is fresh and smooth. ABV 11.5%.

Barbera Amonte, Volpi (Piemonte, Italy, 12 %)         £ 9.50
Red, Warm and Spicy.
Deliciously fruity with notes of blueberries, cherries and raspberries. Robust with a persistent finish. A good match for meaty dishes such as stew, cassoulet and steak & kidney pie.

Merlot del Veneto, Via Nova (Veneto, Italy)           £ 9.50
Red, Medium-Bodied and Elegant.
Fresh and fragrant on the nose with abundant red cherry and plummy characteristics. The palate is medium bodied with crunchy red berry fruits, fine balance and a clean, fruit driven finish.
This wine will pair nicely with most tomato based pasta and pizza dishes.

Montepulciano d’Abruzzo, Colline Teramane, Montipagano
(Abruzzo, Italy, Organic, 13%)                             £ 11.50
Red, Medium-Bodied and Elegant.
Deep ruby red in the glass with a bouquet of cherries and a soft, smooth and mouthfilling body.
A classic Italian Red which pairs with classic Italian fare! Try this red with roasted or grilled red meat dishes – fantastic with a roasted leg of lamb!

Valpolicella Classico DOC, Accordini (Veneto, Italy. 12.5 %)        £ 12.95
Red, Warm and Spicy.
Ruby red in the glass with a bouquet of red berries, roses and minerality. Elegant and well-balanced on the palate, it is fruity and fresh, with light tannins and good length.
Playfully fruity and moreish this is the perfect match to a plate of charcuterie, penne Amatriciana or our Wheal Fire pizza.

Syrah, Mandrarossa (Sicily, 14 %)                     £ 11.50
Red, Warm and Spicy.
This Syrah signals its full bodied fruit with a vibrant, deep magenta colour and a heady perfume of hedgerow fruit and peppery spice.
Full bodied wine, well structured, pairs nicely with spiced red meat dishes such as lemon-coriander game hens, pan-seared filet mignon with roasted potatoes and Merlot sauce or penne with stir-fried beef and red bell pepper. Great with our Wheal Fire!

Ortonese Sangiovese Merlot (Red, Puglia, Italy)            £9.50
A medium bodied wine with great fruit flavours of cherries, red berries and vanilla. Well balanced, smooth and soft, leading to a gentle finish. An equal blend of Sangiovese Merlot grapes, from the Daunia in the Foggia District of Southern Italy.

Poggio Vignoso Chianti (Toscana, Italy)             £11.50
Exceptionally bright fruits and playful, wild herbs excel this wine past “charming” and into another, more serious category. A crafted Chianti blend of Sangiovese, Canaiolo and Malvasia Nera. Fattoria Pugliano’s “wine of the people,” as it is known at home, is a simple, delightful crowd pleaser. An exceptional, food-friendly wine that can be enjoyed with virtually anything. This organic wine is remarkable value, it is surprisingly firm, and admirably balanced with intense dried cherries and floral notes.

Polgoon Pinot Noir / Rondo (Penzance, Cornwall)          £14.95
A light and fruity wine offering rich autumn fruits on the nose and a balanced palate with blackcurrant, red currant and plum followed by a smooth vanilla finish. It’s wonderful when accompanied by Cornish charcuterie, pork dishes or cheese platters. ABV 11.5%.

Sparkling

Cielo Frizzante (Venezie, NE Italy)          £10.95
A social wine, that’s divine! A dainty, savory bouquet and very refreshing “bollicine” make for a flawless aperitif. Fresh and fruity! ABV 10.5%

Arcobello Prosecco Brut (Veneto, Italy)          £13.95
The Arcobello is a delightful aperitif, full of flavours of fresh dessert apples. This dry spumante wine, made from 100% Glera (Prosecco) grapes, is fully sparkling and very pale straw coloured. The nose shows aromas of golden delicious apples and ripe pear. The palate is dry but fruity, with fresh apple and pear fruit and a clean, refreshing finish. Excellent as an aperitif, it matches perfectly with shellfish and lighter fish dishes. ABV 11%

This stunning sparkling is perfect for celebrations. A flirt with green pear on the nose followed by delicate citrus notes and a good balanced acidity.Crisp and lively on the palate with a persistent mousse.
